Summary
The Marketing Team is a small, versatile, focused, data-driven, and aggressive group within Creative Market that works on our core marketplace as well as new emerging products. As part of the Marketing Team, you will have the opportunity to help grow our marketplace that’s used and loved by millions of people while learning and working with some of the best along the way. As our first in-house SEO, you will be responsible for establishing and leading a cross-functional team of engineers to continue growing our organic presence.

Areas You Will Own
Develop a well-informed strategy, SEO product roadmap, and influence our overall roadmap for sustainable SEO growth.
Work cross-functionally with data science, design, product, marketing, and engineering teams to build impactful, metric-driven solutions and tests that accelerate Creative Market’s growth rate.
Help define, optimize, and scale the SEO team’s process to ensure all members run as fast and effectively as possible while shipping high-quality work.
Perform frequent audits and analyses to determine high-value growth opportunities in core areas such as site structure, content strategy and keyword selection, catalog expansion, on-page factors optimizations, XML sitemaps and crawl errors, CTR optimization, site-speed, link opportunities, etc.
Prioritize, scope, run, and analyze rigorous experiments to test new strategies and optimize SEO traffic and ensure priority pages are optimized for the proper keyword focus and provide visitors content/functionality to match their intent.
Identify and analyze competitor techniques, as well as benchmarking Creative Market’s performance against competitors.
Regularly monitor, investigate, and report on in-depth SEO KPIs.
Manage multiple short-term and long-term projects simultaneously, under changing and challenging constraints.
Partner with product owners, designers, analysts, and tech leads in a consultative manner to ensure that SEO considerations are factored into day-to-day product decisions.
Skills Required
You have deep experience working on sites with 500,000+ pages in Google's index.
You have proven experience thinking through scaleable SEO fixes that affect a large percentage of the website at once.
You are relentlessly focused on long-term success and driving measurable results toward goals. You’re able to continually and ruthlessly prioritize projects and next steps by the greatest potential impact, risk, and resources required and push those projects forward in the face of obstacles.
You are incredibly detail-oriented, process-driven, and organized — personally and within the team — but can ensure we ship high-quality projects at a timely pace. Balancing multiple projects, deadlines, and requests should be second nature to you.
You have the ability to work cross-functionally with content, design, engineering, product, and data science teams to drive SEO programs forward in a highly-effective manner.
You have an analytical mind, are very comfortable with large quantities of data, know what to look for, and have the ability to spot a trend others might miss.
You are a problem solver, able to identify the root causes of changes in key metrics and run tests to validate your hypotheses.
You have an appreciation and understanding of consumer psychology and have a strong desire to grasp the entire site from all our users’ perspectives: shops, buyers, affiliates, etc.
You have 3+ years of professional experience in SEO with a proven track record of successfully developing, managing, and implementing successful large-scale SEO initiatives and delivering effective results.
You possess extensive knowledge of SEO best practices, search engine algorithms and ranking strategies, and passion to stay abreast of news and trends in SEO and online marketing.
You have a working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS as they relate to SEO.
You have an extensive understanding of critical SEO analytics and research platforms (e.g. Google Search Console (and API), Google Analytics, Google Adwords Keyword Tool, etc.), as well as familiarity with various third party SEO analytics solutions such as Moz, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, etc.
You have advanced skill with Excel and Google Analytics.
You thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
You have strong communication and interpersonal skills and are able to effectively communicate and build relationships across the organization including engineering and product.
Skills Desired
Experience working with a large marketplace or e-commerce business, including experience with both B2C and B2B SEO strategies.
Well-rounded knowledge of digital marketing, major acquisition channels, and conversion optimization.
Statistical background is a plus.
Expertise with the tools we use: SQL, Looker, Optimizely, HTML, CSS, Javascript, Amplitude.
Location: San Francisco office preferred. Remote positions also available in California, Washington, Colorado, Texas, New York, and North Carolina.
